Team Black Stallion to Debut Display Truck This Weekend
We were able to catch up with Mike Vaters (Black Stallion) and Trey Myers (Iron Warrior) and learn what the team has been up to lately. We were surprised to learn that the team was headed to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, because they did not have a show scheduled there. Why Philadelphia? The team was taking their new display truck there for a speedway convention for its first public appearance.
"This was originally going to be Mike Hawkins' (Equalizer) wife's truck," said Vaters. "They didn't have the time to finish it, so we bought it and this is the result."
The truck will not be a display truck for the rest of its existence, however.
"Our plan right now is for it to be a full-blown race truck by summer," said Myers. "Tim Bee (see Monster Profile for more information) is who will probably drive it, but this is nothing definite because of how busy we are."
The truck is skinned with a Black Stallion body right now. Vaters, Myers, and crew will make any repairs to their Black Stallion race truck and Iron Warrior, then go to Philadelphia to get the display truck set up, and head to Toronto, Ontario for their next show. It was an exhausting week to say the least, but not uncommon for the team.
"We basically worked all day and night for a couple of days in a row to get the display truck ready," said Myers. "We always have things going on, and we like it that way, but it does get hectic at times."
The addition of the display truck brings the team's truck total to five, with Black Stallion, Iron Warrior, the former American Dream chassis, the display truck, and a new race chassis in development. Add to that the full racing schedule for both Black Stallion and Iron Warrior and it is always busy around Team Black Stallion/Iron Warrior.
"We're looking forward to doing well this season and getting better," said Vaters. "We have a lot of things going and we will not be going anywhere for a long time."
We thank Mike Vaters, Trey Myers, and the entire Black Stallion/Iron Warrior team for their time and support. For more information on Black Stallion, check out www.blackstallion4x4.com.
